Pigment Powder vs Mica Powder
Pigment powder is a broad term for any powdered colouring material used to add colour.
Some pigments are completely matte with no shimmer at all.
Mica powders are specifically shimmer-based powders that use mica minerals as their reflective base.
A useful way to think about it:
Pigment powder = the entire colour universe 🌍
Mica powder = the shimmering galaxy inside it ✨
Pigment powder = Matte.
Mica powder = shimmery pearlescent.
Different techniques create very different effects:
mixed fully into resin for smooth colour
dusted into molds for bold surface shine
layered for depth
swirled for smoky movement
